Mick was born and bred in Birkenhead and for many years worked at the Vauxhall Car Factory in Ellesmere Port. He was a trade union shop steward and then convenor at the plant and later became North West Regional Secretary for Unite the Union. In December 2019 he was elected as Birkenhead’s MP. Mick jumped at the chance to base his constituency office in the heart of Birkenhead.
